Which Is Better Central AC Or Split AC?

Posted By :  Admin

When summer hits, everybody struggles to find a way to stay cool inside the home but doesn't know the best way to do the same. People using ceiling and stand fans throughout the year, try to cool air coolers, having a bath with ice-cold water. Try the most practical way to use an air conditioning system in your home that offers effective cooling and lasts longer.

Set up your mind to get a new air conditioning system, but confused about what type of air conditioner should you get to cool your home? There are a number of models in the market, their sizes and features that you can choose for your home, and find which one is a perfect match for your home. The two most popular used and popular air conditioner models are central and split air conditioner.

Every AC has 4 main components that help to make more cooling

Compressor- that usually makes noise while working as it increases the gas pressure and reduces its volume.

Condenser- used as a heat exchanger to condense the refrigerant gas into liquid through cooling. Basically, air-cooled, evaporative, and water-cooled condensers are used in an air conditioner system.

Expansion valve- is the place where air loses the heat here and the air becomes cool by reducing the amount of heat.

Evaporator- is the component of AC that absorbs heat from the inside air and reaches its low boiling point. It works opposite to the condenser, where the liquid is converted into gas.

All the ACs that you mentioned are categorized as per its placement in your home

Central AC: the simplest and the cheapest model of all in the market

Central AC works effectively with four essential components inside the unit. It is relatively cheaper, but when the compressor is too close to your room, you will hear a lot of noise from the compressor. You can hear some noise while the compressor is working at its full speed. As per its name, the central unit is divided into two main parts as a cooling unit is installed inside the room, whereas the exhaust is fitted outside. The main cooling unit is separate, which permits the maker to make it more powerful than the AC model?

As the compressing or exhaust unit is outside, this doesn't make any noise inside the room. Central AC is one of the best choices for offices and other commercial places where room size is larger than normal. It can also be used in those big rooms, which have no place for window AC installation. But, it is not suitable for rooms, which are in the midst of large buildings; in this case, it will be challenging to attach them with the compressor.

In a central AC model, the compressor and condenser is outside the room to be cooled. You can also get multiple cooling options, flexible fan modes, and auto-sensing features to save more.

Split AC: The All-Weather Air Conditioner System

Split AC: compact in size and complex in service and relatively costly and best used for residential buildings. The most common type of air conditioner system, used in small houses and workplaces to get uniform cooling. It is a two cabinet unit and a complete air conditioning system itself and requires a space where you can install inside the room, and the exhaust part outside the building, to discharge heat outside. As it is an all-in-one unit, it is a bit noisy as compared with other air conditioning systems.

Split AC models are easy to install; all you need to find a place where it is all set to work for you. Compressor and evaporator, both are in a single unit, so it has limited cooling capacity that makes it suitable for small places only. To reduce the noise of the compressor, the compressor is shifted somewhere away from the living area, away from the room where comfort means everything, and you want to sleep in a perfectly silent room.

Difference Between Split And Central AC System

Central and split AC both work on the same principle, but they have different cooling capacities, so both are suitable for different sites. Split AC is divided into two parts, as it has a large capacity, so it is ideal for use in large offices and big places inside the house. On the other hand, the Central AC system is a single unit conditioner, as it is suitable for small rooms only. Central AC creates noise, whereas the Split unit works as a calm customer inside the room. Central AC is lesser in size as compared to Split AC units.

Central AC is easy to install, but in the case of Split AC, you have to connect the exterior and interior units through connecting tubes, which may cause trouble in case of a loose connection. Furthermore, a center can be completely installed in your room, but in terms of split AC, the interior unit must be connected to the compressor unit through a small hole in the wall. If you live in a rented house, a central AC is a good choice as it can easily be relocated, as it does not require installation by an expert professional.

Both central and split units work on the same principles, but a central AC unit is ideal for large spaces, as they have more cooling capacity, and for small rooms, split AC is a good choice. Furthermore, the Split unit needs an expert installer, and central AC is relatively easy to install.

There is one problem with this comparison, as central ACs are of different sizes and available in fractional tons to multi tons, but in the central unit, it is suitable for any single sized room due to the multiple head units. The split AC unit is relatively high energy consuming and also needs high maintenance when it is used continuously for longer.

Central AC And Its Components

  • All components are in a single unit and prove a cheaper option than others

  • Noise level is between 45 to 60 dB

  • It can't be work better on DC Power

  • Generate Constant R.P.M. Compressor

  • Low capacity than other AC models

  • Two fans are fitted in the same shaft

  • Air can be taken from an outside environment

  • Inverter can't be used with the air conditioner

  • Curved Filter is used in the central AC

  • The Filter oriented between two planes and vertical to the third one

Split AC And Its Components Condition

  • The evaporator and expander both are inside the room and the compressor and condenser outside the room

  • A little Expensive than others

  • Noise level is less than 38 dB

  • Need Constant DC Power to cool properly

  • Work like Variable R.P.M. Compressor

  • High capacity cooling

  • One fan inside the house, and the other is outside

  • No provision for taking air from the atmosphere

  • The inverter can be used to control the power fluctuation

  • Flat filter that is different than others

  • Filter fitting is vertical and perpendicular to the other two

Benefits Of Installing Central Air Conditioning System At Home

  1. Cleaner Air- A central air conditioning system uses filters to improve the air quality and eliminate pollen, dust, and other pollutants from the air

  2. Effective Circulation of air- The central air conditioning system is the most effective and convenient way to circulate cool air throughout your home

  3. Reduced Noise- Window AC units make much more noise than central air conditioning systems as the central AC system is almost silent

  4. More Space- The central system unit is located outside of your home, and it creates more space for you inside the living area and keeps your house interior beautiful

  5. Multiple Functions-central AC units are available that can double as a heating system and allows you to both heat and cool and heat your home.

Benefits Of Split Air Conditioning System At Home

  1. Quick and Easy to operate- The operation of the split AC system is simple to use with a remote as it can also cool or heat spaces very quickly at your convenience

  2. Silent Operation- Split air conditioning units work with great quietness and are an ideal option for classrooms, offices, boardrooms, and other facilities where a little noise can be manageable

  3. Easy Maintenance- The split units are washable filters that only require periodic routine cleaning to regain its cooling. The filter is easy to remove, and therefore you don't need to call an expert to clean the home. With periodic cleaning and maintenance, it can work better than any other air conditioner model.
